Post 20 : Happy Easter!

His nose twitched and his ears pricked up. Someone was coming.

He skittered into a nearby bush to watch as a little girl came out of her home. “Mom! Dad! The Easter Bunny was here!” She triumphantly picks up the first egg, smiling as she examines the bright plastic.

He always took great care to do his research for his sector. This little one was too young to hide them too well or to have any ornate delicate eggs, and she was allergic to chocolate. “There’s smarties inside!”

He creeped around the side of the house silently to watch the moment. The last house on his list was full of late risers. He had already blown the memory dust over the parents, so they gave each other a knowing look when they joined their daughter outside. “Well, he might’ve hidden more, sweetie, why don’t you go look?”

He’d only be appreciated while they were young, but he was okay with that. The joy in watching her search around her yard for brightly colored eggs was payment enough.

Till next year he supposes.

“Look, it's him!” She shouted happily as he left, another successful year.

A little late, but happy Easter everyone who celebrates! I don’t anymore, but I was raised Catholic. Hope you had a happy (or should I say hoppy!) day regardless of what you were doing.
